Israel airstrikes kill 10 in Yemen, target Houthi leaders

Hyderabad: Israeli airstrikes in Yemen killed at least 10 people, including senior Houthi leaders, in one of the deadliest attacks reported this year. The strikes, carried out on Thursday night, targeted Houthi military and political command centres in Sana’a and other locations.

According to regional media, the air raids followed intelligence reports that top Houthi leaders were planning coordinated drone and missile attacks in the Gulf region. The bombardment destroyed several facilities used for weapons storage and operations.

Israeli Strikes escalate regional conflict and instability

Officials said the strikes not only killed Houthi commanders but also left several civilians injured as nearby residential areas were damaged. International observers warned that the assault could further destabilise the fragile security situation in Yemen and intensify conflict across the Middle East.

The Houthis condemned the attack and vowed retaliation, calling it an act of aggression against Yemen’s sovereignty. Meanwhile, Israel has not issued an official statement, but defence analysts said the strike was part of pre-emptive efforts to counter threats from the Iran-backed group.

The conflict in Yemen has already claimed thousands of lives since 2014, and the latest development adds a new layer of volatility to ongoing regional tensions involving Iran, Saudi Arabia and Israel.
