NHAI receives nine bids for Jaipur Kishangarh highway project

New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India received nine bids for the Jaipur Kishangarh highway project to upgrade a 90 km stretch of NH-48 in Rajasthan to six lanes.

The government approved the project in February 2026. Authorities will award the contract during the current financial year.

Officials will execute the project under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction model. As a result, the upgrade will convert the corridor into a semi access-controlled highway.

The plan includes construction of flyovers and vehicular underpasses at major junctions. In addition, authorities will develop service roads and slip roads along the entire stretch.

These improvements will enhance traffic flow and strengthen safety along the highway corridor.

Jaipur Kishangarh highway project to cut travel time

Once completed, the Jaipur Kishangarh highway project will reduce travel time between the two cities from about two hours to nearly one hour.

Moreover, the upgraded highway will increase vehicle carrying capacity and improve average travel speeds. Continuous service roads will also separate local traffic from high-speed highway vehicles.

As a result, traffic congestion along the corridor is expected to decline significantly.

The project will also strengthen road safety. Flyovers and grade-separated structures will reduce conflict points at busy junctions and lower accident risks.

In addition, service roads will provide safer movement corridors for pedestrians and local vehicles.

Importantly, authorities will execute the project without additional land acquisition. Therefore, implementation is expected to move faster.

Overall, officials said the upgraded corridor will strengthen regional connectivity, improve logistics efficiency and support economic growth in Rajasthan.
