Jan Aushadhi Kendras sales rise with expansion

The Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) manages the PMBJP scheme.

During 2023-24, the government conducted an evaluation of the programme. Concept Research Media Tech and Info Solutions Private Limited carried out the study.

The company submitted the report in July 2025. Later, officials sent the recommendations to PMBI for action.

Meanwhile, the government continues awareness campaigns about generic medicines.

Officials promote the scheme through television, radio, social media and outdoor publicity. In addition, outreach programmes use WhatsApp chatbots and automated calls to inform citizens about savings.

Every year, the government celebrates Jan Aushadhi Week in the first week of March. During this period, authorities organise health camps, public rallies and pharmacy college seminars.

Moreover, rural awareness programmes include health camps, street plays and community workshops. These efforts help people learn about affordable generic medicines.
