Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan said the QR code waste collection system would be strengthened to improve accountability and ensure daily garbage lifting from every household.
He inspected the pilot project at Nalanda Nagar in Hyderguda under Attapur Circle of Rajendranagar Zone on Tuesday. Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanti, Additional Commissioner (Sanitation) Ravi Kiran and Deputy Commissioner Sammaiah accompanied him.
During the visit, officials explained how the mechanism tracked door-to-door garbage lifting through digital monitoring. Later, the Commissioner conducted a surprise inspection to assess the performance of Swachh Autos engaged in sanitation duties.
He said Swachh Auto workers played a crucial role in keeping Greater Hyderabad clean. Therefore, he directed Deputy Commissioners and Solid Waste Management officials, including DEEs and AEs, to ensure coverage of every household without exception.
QR code waste collection to tighten supervision
Karnan asked officials to identify households that failed to hand over waste regularly. He instructed them to counsel residents and encourage cooperation. At the same time, he warned that negligence in attendance, worker performance or supervision would invite strict action.
Moreover, the Commissioner directed officers to respond promptly to sanitation complaints. He stressed the need for awareness campaigns and outreach drives to strengthen public participation in cleanliness efforts.
Officials said the civic body would evaluate the pilot project carefully. If it delivers positive results, GHMC will prepare plans to expand the system across the city.
