Hyderabad: Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy demanded a House Committee investigation into the alleged mining scam, rejecting a CID inquiry and targeting the government’s stand.
Speaking to reporters, he said senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao had presented “concrete evidence” in the Assembly. Therefore, he questioned why the government had not agreed to a House Committee probe.
He argued that the evidence placed in the House required a credible and transparent process. However, he said the government had avoided adopting a stronger mechanism.
Kaushik Reddy also questioned the value of a CID probe when the allegations involved a sitting minister. According to him, officials could not fairly question Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy in such circumstances. Hence, he repeated the demand for the minister’s resignation.
He added that the refusal to order a House Committee had raised fresh doubts over the government’s intent. As a result, he said public confidence in the inquiry process could weaken.
Mining row probe turns into wider political confrontation
Kaushik Reddy also targeted rebel leaders Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari during the mining row probe controversy. He accused them of intimidation and disrespect towards former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
He linked these remarks to a broader political confrontation surrounding the mining row probe. In addition, he alleged that Congress MLAs had targeted him for raising issues such as jobs and pensions.
He said attempts were being made to silence him within the political system. Moreover, he questioned why the Assembly Ethics Committee had not acted over what he described as abusive language.
Meanwhile, Kaushik Reddy framed the issue as both a corruption case and a question of institutional fairness. He said the government had failed to address the core demand for an impartial mining row probe.
Instead, he maintained that the ruling side had tried to deflect the issue and isolate opposition voices. With this, the BRS intensified its attack on the Congress government and continued to press for accountability and a probe outside the CID route.
