Kavitha stages protest over Congress election promises at Praja Bhavan

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday staged a protest at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Begumpet, demanding immediate implementation of Congress election promises.

Kavitha, accompanied by women supporters, gathered in front of Praja Bhavan and raised slogans against the State government. She urged the Congress government to fulfil assurances made during the Assembly elections. According to her, several key welfare commitments remain pending.

She specifically demanded ₹2,500 monthly financial assistance for women as promised by the Congress. In addition, she called for an increase in pensions for elderly persons, persons with disabilities and other eligible beneficiaries. She stated that vulnerable sections were waiting for enhanced financial support.

Further, Kavitha pressed for implementation of the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme with the addition of one tola of gold, as assured during the campaign. She also highlighted unresolved issues faced by Anganwadi workers and sought immediate redress.

The protesters alleged that delays in executing Congress election promises were causing hardship to women and disadvantaged groups. They demanded clear timelines for implementation.

Memorandum submitted on Congress election promises

After staging the protest, Kavitha submitted a memorandum to Prajavani Nodal Officer Divya at Praja Bhavan. In the representation, she reiterated the demand for swift execution of all welfare assurances.

She stated that the Congress election promises formed the basis of public trust and electoral support. Therefore, she urged the government to honour its commitments without further delay.

Kavitha said the protest aimed to draw the administration’s attention to pending schemes and welfare measures. She added that Telangana Jagruthi would continue to raise the issue until concrete steps were announced.

The demonstration concluded peacefully after the memorandum was handed over to the official.
