Kavitha seeks Council floor to explain resignation, slams CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagriti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha said she would explain the reasons for her resignation on the floor of the Legislative Council on January 5, after Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy assured her of an opportunity.

She said she met the Council Chairman to discuss acceptance of her resignation and formally requested time to speak before any decision. The Chairman, she added, told her that he would allow her to address the House on January 5 or 6.

At the Council media point, Kavitha said she had resigned from her MLC post four months ago. However, the Council had not yet accepted her resignation.

Emphasising parliamentary procedure, she said elected representatives must get a chance to place their views before the House. She added that she would clearly explain her reasons to the people of Telangana during her Council speech.

Turning to politics, Kavitha strongly criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for comparing former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to a terrorist. She warned that such language did not suit the constitutional position of a Chief Minister.

Kavitha resignation remarks target CM over irrigation and conduct

Reacting sharply to the Chief Minister’s comments, Kavitha said her “blood was boiling” over the remarks against KCR. She described him as the leader of the Telangana movement and said the State existed because of his struggle.

On irrigation, she said it was “100 percent true” that Palamuru–Rangareddy had not supplied water to even one acre in the past 12 years. She asserted that only KCR could explain why authorities changed the project’s intake point.

Questioning the government’s approach, Kavitha said allowing others to respond on complex irrigation issues confused the public. She argued that accountability must rest with senior leaders.

She also accused Andhra Pradesh leaders of protecting their regional water interests beyond politics. In contrast, she said Telangana leaders lacked the same resolve.

Referring to Assembly proceedings, Kavitha said the BRS faced serious consequences if KCR stayed away from the House. She urged him to attend sessions and counter allegations directly.

She alleged that delays in irrigation projects harmed farmers over the past two years. Moreover, she warned the government against stopping projects to target political opponents.

Kavitha said Telangana Jagriti would take facts to the people and expose failures through public outreach. She added that governance should focus on public welfare, not political blame games.

Concluding her remarks, Kavitha extended New Year greetings to the people of Telangana. She said she hoped the new year would fulfil the aspirations of every family in the State.
