Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of targeting the Velama community because he lacked the political strength to counter opponents democratically.
Addressing the media, Kavitha said the Chief Minister had crossed all limits of decorum in his public remarks. She stated that it was unacceptable for a person holding the constitutional post of Chief Minister to speak irresponsibly and single out a particular community. Kavitha reminded that Revanth Reddy had taken an oath on the Constitution to respect all citizens without discrimination. However, she alleged that he had forgotten that promise and resorted to divisive language.
She said the comments against the Velama community reflected political frustration. According to her, instead of facing rivals politically, the Chief Minister was “spreading venom” against a community. Kavitha asserted that such behaviour was unbefitting of the office and demanded that Revanth Reddy immediately change his approach.
Kavitha slams Revanth on Jagtial MLA Sanjay issue
Kavitha also strongly objected to the Speaker giving a clean chit to Jagtial MLA Sanjay. She said granting such relief amounted to an insult to the Constitution. Kavitha pointed out that Sanjay had shifted from the BRS to the Congress openly and under the Chief Minister’s leadership.
She said it was public knowledge that Sanjay attended official meetings at Gandhi Bhavan. She further alleged that he was actively involved in Congress organisational activities and that B-Forms were issued to 30 Congress municipal candidates in Jagtial under his influence. In such a situation, Kavitha questioned how the Speaker could justify issuing a clean chit.
Stating that ethics and integrity were essential in public life, Kavitha said that if Sanjay truly believed in morality, he should resign from his MLA post. She warned that systematically trampling constitutional rights was dangerous and would harm future generations. Kavitha demanded that the Speaker immediately withdraw the decision and uphold constitutional values.
