KTR attacks Congress over irrigation failures and river water issues

Hyderabad: KTR attacks Congress sharply on irrigation and river water management, accusing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of having no understanding of river waters and branding the state’s irrigation ministers as shockingly ignorant.

Addressing a felicitation meeting of newly elected Sarpanches, Deputy Sarpanches and Ward Members at the BRS party office in Nalgonda, Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President and former minister K.T. Rama Rao said the Congress government had failed to answer serious questions raised by former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on irrigation and governance.

Congratulating the newly elected grassroots representatives, KTR said their victory had renewed confidence and energy within the BRS. He alleged that instead of responding to public issues, the Congress government was resorting to diversionary politics and “case dramas” to escape accountability.

KTR challenged the Chief Minister to stop leaking information through backdoor channels and come before the media to clearly state what cases he intended to file. He said Revanth Reddy also held the Home portfolio and should act with transparency rather than relying on indirect tactics.

Taking strong exception to the handling of Krishna river waters, KTR said the Chief Minister lacked even basic knowledge of river water management. He criticised irrigation ministers for admitting their inability to answer questions and accused them of misleading the public while remaining disconnected from farmers’ concerns.

He said while KCR continued to fight firmly for Telangana’s rightful share in Krishna waters, the Congress government lacked both competence and courage to defend the state’s interests.

KTR attacks Congress over Palamuru project and farmer promises

Continuing his attack, KTR attacks Congress for allegedly obstructing key irrigation projects, particularly the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. He said the BRS government had completed 90 per cent of the project, but the Congress government wasted two years without finishing the remaining work.

KTR accused the government of failing to submit detailed project reports and attempting to reduce the project’s scope. He described these actions as a betrayal of Telangana’s farmers and irrigation needs.

On cooperative societies, KTR challenged the Congress government to immediately conduct elections if it truly believed it had served farmers well. He alleged that fear of public anger had forced the government to avoid elections and rely on nominated positions instead.

Referring to recent Sarpanch election results, KTR said farmers and agricultural labourers had already expressed their anger. He accused the government of abandoning promises made to tenant farmers, farm labourers and other welfare beneficiaries.

KTR said the Congress government was leaking cases against KCR to divert attention from its failure to implement commitments such as Rythu Bandhu support for tenant farmers and financial assistance for agricultural labourers.

Calling upon party cadres to remain focused, KTR urged them to question the Congress government relentlessly over its unfulfilled “420 promises.” He said BRS would not bow to intimidation or threats and would continue its fight in the public domain until justice was delivered to Telangana’s farmers.
