Hyderabad: K. T. Rama Rao met senior Congress leader T. Jeevan Reddy in Jagtial and formally invited him to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi on behalf of K. Chandrashekar Rao.
The meeting has sparked fresh discussion around a possible Jeevan Reddy BRS shift in Telangana politics. KTR visited the leader’s residence along with party representatives and held detailed talks on his future political role.
According to KTR, Jeevan Reddy responded positively. He acknowledged his long association with KCR and is expected to meet him soon before taking a final decision.
Jeevan Reddy BRS outreach gains momentum
The Jeevan Reddy BRS outreach reflects the party’s strategy to bring experienced leaders into its fold. KTR highlighted Jeevan Reddy’s four-decade political journey and his consistent role in raising public issues.
Despite earlier invitations, including before the 2014 elections, the Congress leader stayed with his party due to long-standing loyalty. However, recent developments indicate a shift in political equations.
KTR also pointed to the personal rapport between KCR and Jeevan Reddy. He recalled that development works requested by Jeevan Reddy were approved during KCR’s tenure, even when he was in the opposition.
KTR highlights leadership and farmer issues
KTR said leaders like Jeevan Reddy are crucial for restoring stability for farmers and economically weaker sections. He added that KCR’s leadership could help rebuild the state’s growth trajectory.
He also noted Jeevan Reddy’s efforts in highlighting farmer concerns, including issues related to Nizam Sugars. KTR said KCR had earlier proposed reviving the sugar factory under a cooperative model with Jeevan Reddy’s involvement.
Political criticism and governance concerns
Meanwhile, KTR criticised the Congress government over governance and implementation gaps. He alleged delays in schemes such as Rythu Bandhu and claimed dues had mounted significantly.
He also raised concerns about unfulfilled promises, including loan waivers and job creation. According to him, dissatisfaction is growing among farmers and unemployed youth.
KTR further alleged that internal issues within the Congress have weakened party cohesion. He said lack of respect for senior leaders has affected its structure.
Decision expected soon
The Jeevan Reddy BRS development is expected to gain clarity in the coming days. KTR expressed confidence that the senior leader’s entry would strengthen the party and support its goal of returning to power.
