KTR challenges loan claims in Telangana Assembly

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao issued a loan claims challenge in the Telangana Assembly on Tuesday. He questioned the government’s statement on loans given to women self-help groups.

The confrontation followed a statement by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka during the session. He said the government had sanctioned ₹57,000 crore in loans to women’s groups.

However, KTR rejected the claim and demanded proof on the floor of the House. He asked the government to produce the official order supporting the figure.

KTR said he would resign as an MLA if the government immediately produced the order confirming the claim. At the same time, he asked whether the Deputy Chief Minister would resign if the statement proved incorrect.

The exchange triggered heated arguments between treasury and opposition benches. Members from both sides raised sharp objections during the proceedings.

Loan claims challenge sparks heated exchanges in Assembly

KTR alleged that the government was misleading the public with incorrect financial data. According to him, the figures presented in the Assembly lacked credibility.

Meanwhile, treasury bench members defended the government’s position. They insisted that the figures were accurate and part of official records.

As the debate continued, both sides stood firm on their positions regarding the loan figures. The dispute intensified during the session as members argued over the authenticity of the data presented in the House.

BRS leaders said they would continue raising the issue until the government provided clear documentation for the claim.
