New Delhi: The Centre has clarified that LPG booking rules remain unchanged and firmly denied rumours suggesting a gas shortage in the country.
Officials issued the clarification after misleading posts circulated widely on social media. These posts linked a supposed supply disruption to geopolitical tensions, particularly the Iran–Israel situation. Authorities described such claims as baseless and urged citizens to rely only on verified information.
LPG booking rules remain unchanged
Government officials confirmed that the existing LPG booking rules continue without any modification. Consumers can follow the same timelines that have been in place.
Urban households are allowed to book a refill 25 days after their last delivery. Rural consumers, meanwhile, can place refill requests after 45 days. These timelines are designed to ensure equitable distribution and prevent hoarding.
The government emphasised that oil marketing companies are functioning normally. Regular monitoring mechanisms remain in place to track supply levels and demand patterns across regions.
Centre assures stable LPG supply
Authorities stressed that LPG supply across India remains stable and sufficient to meet current demand. Distribution networks are operating smoothly without any reported disruptions.
Officials noted that rumours triggered unnecessary panic among some consumers. This led to a spike in advance bookings in certain areas, creating avoidable pressure on the system.
The Centre advised consumers to avoid panic buying and adhere to normal consumption patterns. It reiterated that there is no need to rush bookings or stockpile cylinders.
Call for responsible information sharing
The government also highlighted the risks of misinformation, especially on digital platforms. False claims can disrupt essential services by creating artificial demand surges.
Consumers were urged to verify information through official channels before acting on it. Authorities said clear communication would continue to ensure transparency.
