Hyderabad: Auto drivers staged a protest over the Hyderabad LPG shortage on Sagar Ring Road, blocking traffic and demanding immediate restoration of fuel supply.
Drivers said they had waited for several hours at LPG filling stations but did not receive fuel. As a result, they brought their vehicles onto the main road and parked them across the highway. This action halted traffic movement and created severe congestion along the busy stretch.
Commuters faced long delays as cars, buses, and two-wheelers remained stuck. Many passengers reported being stranded for extended periods. Meanwhile, the disruption affected office-goers and essential travel, as peak-hour movement slowed sharply.
The protest intensified as more auto drivers joined the blockade. They said the ongoing shortage had already reduced their daily earnings. In addition, they warned that repeated fuel disruptions could push many drivers into financial distress.
Fuel supply issues disrupt transport services across key route
Protesters urged the government to step in and improve LPG distribution systems. They demanded timely supply at filling stations to prevent similar incidents. According to them, inconsistent availability had become a recurring problem in recent days.
Drivers also highlighted that public transport services depend heavily on LPG availability. Therefore, any disruption directly affects commuters who rely on autos for daily travel. They stressed that resolving supply gaps was critical to maintaining normal city movement.
However, authorities had not announced any immediate corrective measures. Traffic police, meanwhile, deployed personnel to control the situation. They diverted vehicles and worked to gradually clear the blocked stretch.
The Hyderabad LPG shortage has continued to impact transport operations, with drivers calling for urgent and lasting solutions to stabilise fuel access.
