Medak development gains pace under Congress government: Vivek Venkataswamy

Hyderabad: Energy and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkataswamy said Medak district was emerging as a model of development under the Congress government. He made the remarks during Telangana Praja Palana Day celebrations while paying tribute to martyrs and freedom fighters.

The Minister recalled the sacrifices that helped establish freedom and democracy. He said Hyderabad State merged with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948. According to him, those sacrifices continued to shape the values of democratic governance.

Vivek Venkataswamy said the government began implementing its Abhayahastham promises within 48 hours of taking office. Officials collected applications from residents through Indiramma Gram Sabhas. The government then began implementing the promised welfare schemes.

Women in Medak received free bus travel worth ₹4.73 crore, the Minister said. He added that women benefited by ₹171.04 crore through the Mahalakshmi scheme. These figures, he said, reflected the government’s welfare focus in the district.

The Gruha Jyothi scheme also covered 129,756 consumers in Medak, according to the Minister. These consumers received zero-amount electricity bills, while the government provided a subsidy of ₹113.80 crore.

Farmers also received support through Rythu Bharosa, Vivek Venkataswamy said. The scheme provided ₹222.69 crore to 266,674 farmers in the district.

Medak development expands healthcare and education

Healthcare formed another major part of the district’s development programme. The Minister said Aarogyasri services reached 40,351 poor people after the government raised the coverage limit to ₹10 lakh.

The government also sanctioned ₹180 crore for the Medak Medical College building. In addition, it approved ₹26 crore for the Nursing College. The Minister said these investments would strengthen medical education and healthcare infrastructure in the district.

Education projects also moved forward in Medak, he said. The government sanctioned two Telangana Public Schools. It also started construction of the Young India Integrated Residential School at Ramayampet with a cost of ₹200 crore.

Housing support covered thousands of families in the district. The government sanctioned 9,682 Indiramma houses with a budget of ₹484.10 crore, according to the Minister. It had already credited ₹177.08 crore to 6,483 beneficiaries.

Agriculture remained another key area of government support. Officials procured 425,305 metric tonnes of paddy from 100,344 farmers. The government paid the farmers a total of ₹1,116.06 crore for the procured produce.

Employment Guarantee Scheme works also received fresh funding. The government sanctioned ₹98.51 crore for 1,086 works across the district. The Minister said the projects would support employment while advancing local development.

Vivek Venkataswamy said the government was promoting development across education, healthcare, employment, agriculture and women’s welfare. He called for continued efforts to make Medak a leader across all sectors.
