Hyderabad: Tahreek Muslim Shabban was set to hold a round table on September 6 to discuss the status of Muslims in Telangana. The Muslim round table was scheduled to focus on Waqf affairs, minority institutions, welfare and political representation.
The conference was scheduled for 2 pm at Media Plus, Nizamia Complex, Abids. Tahreek Muslim Shabban president Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik was set to preside over the meeting.
Ulema, Mashaikheen, intellectuals and representatives of religious and community organisations were expected to attend. Social activists were also expected to participate in the discussions.
The Muslim round table came amid debate within the community over key minority institutions. Participants were expected to examine Waqf protection, welfare access, administrative transparency and political representation.
Concerns had also emerged over the Telangana State Waqf Board, Minorities Finance Corporation, Urdu Academy and Minorities Commission. The discussions were expected to seek greater transparency and regular institutional meetings.
Participants were also expected to seek better public access to minority institutions. Stronger grievance-redressal systems were another issue likely to receive attention.
Muslim round table to examine Waqf and welfare concerns
Waqf affairs were expected to receive major attention at the meeting. The discussions were likely to cover properties under litigation or facing alleged encroachment.
Participants were also expected to discuss legal protection for valuable Waqf assets. Disclosure of income and expenditure and stronger institutional oversight were among the proposed concerns.
The meeting was also set to examine whether minority welfare institutions were delivering measurable benefits. Areas under discussion included education, employment, self-employment, skill development and economic support.
Political representation was another key issue on the agenda. Participants were expected to discuss the need for experienced and accessible leadership within government and other decision-making forums.
Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik said the meeting was intended to bring together a broad cross-section of community representatives. He said they would exchange views and suggest practical measures on issues affecting Muslims in Telangana.
Mallik said the community had high expectations from the deliberations. He also expressed hope that resolutions adopted at the meeting would guide future efforts on key issues.
The conference was therefore positioned as a platform for discussing institutional, welfare and political concerns. Its deliberations were expected to focus on practical steps affecting the Muslim community in Telangana.
