New Delhi: Mera Yuva Bharat will organise a nationwide National Voters’ Day padyatra on January 25, 2026, to promote voter awareness and youth participation across India.
MY Bharat functions as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The organisation said the programme will take place in all State and Union Territory capitals. In addition, district headquarters across the country will host similar activities.
National Voters’ Day is observed every year to mark the foundation of the Election Commission of India. Therefore, the initiative focuses on informed and ethical electoral participation. In particular, it aims to encourage youth and first-time voters.
The programme also aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of Jan Bhagidari in nation-building. Moreover, it seeks to place young citizens at the centre of India’s democratic process.
The National Voters’ Day padyatra will combine voter awareness with physical fitness. Wherever feasible, MY Bharat will integrate the Sundays on Cycle initiative of Khelo India and the Sports Authority of India. As a result, the programme will promote both civic responsibility and healthy lifestyles.
Through padyatras and cycling events, volunteers will engage local communities. They will encourage voter registration and informed participation. Meanwhile, the activities will highlight democratic values in an inclusive manner.
At 36 State and Union Territory capitals, around 1,000 MY Bharat volunteers will participate. These events will include flag-off ceremonies by constitutional authorities. In addition, organisers will felicitate first-time voters and conduct pledge-taking programmes.
National Voters’ Day padyatra to cover districts nationwide
Similar programmes will take place across 763 districts. Around 500 volunteers will participate in each district. Therefore, the initiative will ensure wide grassroots outreach.
District Election Officers, local administration officials and elected representatives will take part. Moreover, organisers will adapt activities to suit local conditions and requirements.
MY Bharat said the nationwide outreach aims to ensure uniform observance of National Voters’ Day 2026. As a result, the programme will strengthen democratic awareness among young citizens.
To support public communication, organisers will hold district-level press conferences. These briefings will inform the media about the National Voters’ Day padyatra and its objectives.
