New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment announced that a NAMASTE scheme event would be held in Pilibhit on February 26 to distribute PPE kits, Ayushman cards and sewing machines to sanitation workers.
The programme will take place at Gandhi Prekshagrih, Gandhi Stadium, near Jeevan Rekha, Nakhasa, Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh. It aims to promote and spread awareness about the National Action for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) Scheme launched by the Government of India.
During the NAMASTE scheme event, authorities will hand over Personal Protective Equipment kits and Ayushman Cards to Sewer and Septic Tank Workers and waste pickers. These measures are intended to ensure their safety, health coverage and social security. In addition, beneficiaries who completed skill development training will receive sewing machines to strengthen their livelihood options.
Minister to attend NAMASTE scheme event in Pilibhit
Shri B.L. Verma, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, will grace the programme. Moreover, Union Ministers, State Ministers from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, MLAs and senior district officials are likely to attend.
Senior officials from the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation will also be present. The government said the NAMASTE scheme event seeks to uphold dignity and safety for sanitation workers. It also aims to improve their social and economic standing.
According to the ministry, the initiative reflects the government’s priority to support deprived communities. It seeks to extend structured assistance to workers who have historically remained marginalized.
