Hyderabad: Congress spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin has accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of spreading misinformation through social media platforms during the silent period preceding the November 11 Jubilee Hills by-election.
Nizamuddin warns against fake news and doctored videos
He said that although campaigning officially ended on Sunday evening, digital propaganda continued online. “BRS may misuse social media by circulating fake news, edited clips, or AI-generated visuals to mislead voters,” he warned.
Nizamuddin urged citizens to verify political content before forwarding it and asked them to rely only on credible sources. He alleged that BRS, facing growing public discontent, was attempting to divert attention from development issues through fabricated digital campaigns.
Legal action initiated against online violators
The Congress, he said, had lodged several complaints with the Election Commission and cybercrime authorities. FIRs were filed against those found sharing misleading content. “Our legal and IT teams monitored activity round-the-clock,” he noted, adding that the party remained committed to safeguarding fair elections.
He further said the Congress, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, ran a campaign focused on welfare and accountability, drawing strong grassroots support across Jubilee Hills.
Call for vigilance on polling day
Nizamuddin appealed to voters to stay calm and report any attempts to bribe or intimidate them. “Every honest vote strengthens democracy,” he said, expressing confidence in Congress candidate Naveen Yadav’s victory.
