Nomination papers go missing ahead of Vikarabad panchayat polls

Hyderabad: Nomination papers submitted for three village panchayats in Vikarabad district went missing ahead of the elections, prompting a police investigation. The incident occurred in Peddemul mandal, where candidates had filed nominations for Gotlapalli, Girmapur, Hanmapur, and Jayaram Tanda panchayats under Gotlapalli cluster.

According to Tandur DSP Nursing Yadayya, staff locked the nomination centre and left on Tuesday afternoon after duty hours. An attendant remained on guard until 9:30 p.m. Upon returning on Wednesday morning, he found the nomination papers scattered near the room.

Vikarabad panchayat polls to proceed as nominations are digitised

Officials found only the papers for Gotlapalli intact, while documents from the other three panchayats were missing. Authorities were alerted and a formal complaint was filed with the police.

MPDO Ratan Singh stated that all nominations had been digitised online, and the elections would proceed without disruption. “The missing papers are under police investigation,” he said.
