NTPC signs MoA with GCRI to upgrade radiotherapy services in Gujarat

Mumbai: NTPC Limited’s Western Region–I on Friday signed an MoA with the Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute to upgrade radiotherapy services under its corporate social responsibility programme.

Under the NTPC GCRI MoA, NTPC sanctioned ₹23.16 crore for upgrading facilities at the Siddhpur Satellite Centre of GCRI in Ahmedabad. The funding will support the procurement and installation of a high-energy Linear Accelerator to enhance advanced cancer treatment.

Officials said the upgrade would significantly improve access to quality radiotherapy services for patients across the region. Moreover, the new equipment would strengthen precision and efficiency in cancer care.

The MoA was exchanged between GCRI Director Dr. Shashank Pandya and NTPC Regional Executive Director (West–I) E. Satya Phani Kumar. Senior officials from both organisations attended the signing ceremony.

The event was held in the presence of NTPC executives, including Akhaya Kumar Patra, GM (OS), A. P. Samal, CEO (NPUNL) and CGM (Nuclear), and Vandana Chaturvedi, Regional Head of HR (West–I). Representatives from GCRI were also present.

NTPC GCRI MoA strengthens healthcare infrastructure

NTPC officials said the initiative reinforced the organisation’s commitment to inclusive development. Therefore, the company continues to prioritise investments in critical healthcare infrastructure through CSR interventions.

GCRI representatives said the support would help expand cancer treatment capacity. In addition, the upgraded radiotherapy services would benefit patients from Gujarat and neighbouring regions.

The collaboration reflects NTPC’s broader focus on social impact projects. It also underlines the role of public sector enterprises in supporting specialised healthcare services.
