New Delhi: The PAIMANA portal tracked 1,702 infrastructure projects across India as of January 2026, Minister Rao Inderjit Singh told Rajya Sabha on March 23.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation monitored central sector projects costing ₹150 crore and above through the portal. These projects had a total sanctioned cost of ₹33.71 lakh crore and recorded expenditure of ₹20.01 lakh crore.
The PAIMANA portal integrated with the Integrated Project Monitoring Portal of DPIIT using APIs. This system followed the “One Data One Entry” principle and reduced manual data input. Around 64% of projects in key sectors updated automatically through the platform.
Officials shared regular updates with ministries using data analytics. In addition, stakeholders accessed customised dashboards to review progress and identify delays. Monthly review meetings and coordination efforts supported evidence-based monitoring.
PAIMANA portal improves project monitoring and coordination
The government used multiple mechanisms to address delays in infrastructure projects. The Prime Minister reviewed key projects under PRAGATI meetings through video conferencing. These reviews focused on resolving bottlenecks and speeding up execution.
The Project Monitoring Group under DPIIT handled projects worth ₹500 crore and above. It ensured milestone-based tracking and faster approvals through inter-ministerial coordination. The group also held regular review meetings for delayed projects.
A five-tier escalation framework helped address issues at appropriate levels. Routine matters stayed with ministries, while complex issues moved up to higher authorities. This system reduced duplication and allowed focused intervention.
The minister said these combined steps strengthened monitoring and improved timely completion of infrastructure projects across the country.
