PM calls for mission-mode reforms at NITI Aayog meet

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for mission-mode reforms across sectors while interacting with eminent economists and experts at NITI Aayog.

The interaction was held on the theme “Aatmanirbharta and Structural Transformation: Agenda for Viksit Bharat.” Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the vision of a developed India by 2047 had evolved into a mass aspiration. He noted that this shift was visible in education choices, consumption patterns and global mobility trends.

The Prime Minister said rising aspirations demanded stronger institutions and forward-looking infrastructure planning. He stressed that policymaking and budgeting must remain aligned with the 2047 vision. He also said India must continue building global capabilities while deepening its integration with international markets.

The Prime Minister further emphasised that India should retain its position as a key hub for the global workforce. He added that sustained reforms were essential to support long-term economic growth.

Economists discuss mission-mode reforms and productivity gains

During the interaction, economists shared insights on improving productivity and competitiveness in manufacturing and services through mission-mode reforms. They highlighted the role of higher household savings, faster infrastructure development and wider technology adoption in accelerating structural transformation.

The experts discussed Artificial Intelligence as an enabler of productivity across sectors. They also examined the continued scaling of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure to support efficient and inclusive growth.

Participants noted that the unprecedented flurry of cross sectoral reforms in 2025 would strengthen India’s economic foundations. They added that further consolidation in the coming year would help India remain among the fastest growing global economies.
