New Delhi: The Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) met on 3 December 2025 under the chairmanship of Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia. The meeting took place at the Parliament House Annexe. Union Minister of State Shri Sukanta Majumdar and Members from both Houses of Parliament also attended. At the outset, Shri Scindia said the committee’s discussions guide development and investment priorities in the North Eastern Region.
PM-DevINE remained the main focus of the meeting. Shri Scindia described the scheme as the Ministry’s most important initiative. It began in the Union Budget 2022–2023 with an allocation of ₹6,600 crore for the period up to 2025–2026. As of 31 October 2025, the Ministry had sanctioned 44 projects worth about ₹5,700 crore. Three projects worth about ₹176 crore reached completion. Meanwhile, 41 projects worth about ₹5,500 crore continued to progress. In addition, projects worth ₹111 crore received in-principle approval, and proposals amounting to ₹625 crore stayed in the pipeline.
Committee examines PM-DevINE progress and regional priorities
During the meeting, Shri Scindia responded to suggestions from Members. He outlined ongoing initiatives in Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura. He also addressed tourism proposals for Tripura and said the Government would build tourist circuits with world-class facilities across the North Eastern states. As a pilot effort, officials took up the Sohra Circuit in Meghalaya and the Matabari Circuit in Tripura. The foundation stone for the Sohra Circuit is already in place, whereas the Matabari project awaits final approval. Capacity-building measures will run alongside infrastructure work to support skilled manpower and improve visitor experiences.
Project monitoring formed another major point of discussion. Shri Scindia explained that officials track PM-DevINE projects through a rigorous multi-layered system. Weekly reviews compare planned and actual timelines. Time-stamped photographs, field inspections by MDoNER and North Eastern Council officers, and third-party evaluations further support transparency and accountability.
In closing, the Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to rapid, transparent and outcome-oriented development in the North Eastern Region. He added that PM-DevINE continues to drive socio-economic and infrastructure growth across the region.
