New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for Delhi development projects worth around ₹33,500 crore on March 8 in the national capital.
The Prime Minister will also address a gathering during the programme. Earlier, he will visit GPRA Type-5 quarters in Sarojini Nagar and hand over keys to female allottees.
The projects include major Delhi Metro works and redevelopment of government residential colonies under the General Pool Residential Accommodation plan.
Metro projects worth about ₹18,300 crore form a major part of the Delhi development projects. The Prime Minister will inaugurate two new corridors of the Delhi Metro network.
These include the Majlis Park–Maujpur Babarpur corridor of about 12.3 km on the Pink Line. The Deepali Chowk–Majlis Park corridor of about 9.9 km on the Magenta Line will also be opened.
The new corridors will improve connectivity for several areas including Burari, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar.
Delhi development projects include metro and housing expansion
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for three new metro corridors under Phase V-A expansion.
These corridors include R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1 and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj.
Together, the new lines will cover around 16.10 km. They will strengthen connectivity between South Delhi, Noida and the airport region.
In addition, projects worth ₹15,200 crore under the GPRA redevelopment plan will be inaugurated and launched.
The redevelopment covers government residential colonies in Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar and Sriniwaspuri.
These projects aim to modernise government housing and create improved infrastructure for employees and administrative offices.
Officials said the redevelopment follows a self-sustaining financial model. Under this model, a limited portion of land is used for commercial and residential development.
Revenue generated from this space funds the construction of new government housing and public facilities.
The redevelopment programme will provide more than 9,350 modern flats for government employees.
It will also create around 48 lakh square feet of office space, which is expected to improve administrative efficiency.
