PM Modi to inaugurate Rs 11,000 crore highway projects in Delhi

Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major highway projects in Delhi worth Rs 11,000 crore on August 17 at 12:30 PM in Rohini, aimed at decongesting the capital and improving connectivity across the National Capital Region.

The highway projects Delhi inauguration will include the 10.1-km Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway, developed at Rs 5,360 crore, and the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of Urban Extension Road-II worth Rs 5,580 crore. Both projects form part of the government’s comprehensive infrastructure plan for the capital.

The Dwarka Expressway Delhi section will provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, Delhi Metro Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster Bus Depot. The project comprises two packages covering different stretches of the expressway route.

Package I spans 5.9 km from Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge at Dwarka Sector-21, while Package II covers 4.2 km from Dwarka Sector-21 RUB to the Delhi-Haryana border, providing direct connectivity to Urban Extension Road-II.

Highway projects Delhi completion will follow earlier Haryana section inauguration

PM Narendra Modi had earlier inaugurated the 19-km Haryana section of Dwarka Expressway in March 2024, completing the full expressway corridor between Delhi and Haryana. The highway projects Delhi inauguration will extend this connectivity within the capital.

Urban Extension Road-II will include new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, designed to ease traffic on Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads and congested points like Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09. The new spurs will provide direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat while improving industrial connectivity.
