PM Modi, Venezuela acting president agree to deepen bilateral partnership

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed to further expand the India Venezuela partnership during a telephone conversation with Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Eloína Rodríguez Gómez on Friday.

According to an official statement, the two leaders discussed ways to deepen cooperation across key sectors. These included trade and investment, energy, digital technology, health, agriculture and people-to-people exchanges. The call reflected a shared intent to strengthen bilateral engagement through sustained dialogue.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s commitment to closer ties with Venezuela. He underlined the scope for cooperation in areas that support inclusive growth and development. The Acting President echoed these views and welcomed stronger engagement with India across multiple domains.

Both leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. They stressed the importance of coordination on international platforms. In particular, they underlined close cooperation to advance the interests of the Global South.

Officials said the conversation reaffirmed the long-standing relationship between the two countries. It also signalled a push to build momentum in sectors with untapped potential.

Leaders stress India Venezuela partnership and Global South cooperation
