New Delhi: A postal employees delegation met Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh to discuss service reforms, welfare issues and future readiness of postal services.
The delegation, representing various postal unions, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Department of Personnel and Training for addressing their concerns regularly.

During the meeting, members raised issues related to cadre restructuring, financial upgradation and pension matters. They also discussed the future role of Mail Motor Service in the evolving communication landscape.
Additionally, the delegation highlighted concerns regarding pension and family pension cases. In response, the Minister advised using platforms such as Pension Adalat and grievance forums for quicker resolution.
Focus on career growth and GDS welfare
The delegation sought uniform implementation of career progression schemes across regions. Moreover, they raised issues concerning Gramin Dak Sevaks, including social security and welfare measures.
Dr Jitendra Singh acknowledged the role of postal employees in ensuring last-mile service delivery, especially in rural and remote areas.
Future readiness and administrative reforms
The Minister emphasised the need to align postal services with emerging technologies and changing public needs. Therefore, he encouraged exploring new opportunities within administrative reforms.
He also assured that cadre restructuring concerns would be examined in coordination with relevant authorities. Furthermore, he said the issues raised would be taken up with concerned departments as per established rules.
