Hyderabad: The Ministry of Tourism sanctioned four projects worth ₹146.50 crore in Telangana under the PRASHAD scheme to strengthen pilgrimage and heritage tourism infrastructure.
Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat shared the details in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on February 5, 2026. He said the ministry aimed to improve spiritual tourism through planned and holistic development of facilities.
Under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive, the ministry approved projects at key religious locations. These projects focus on temple infrastructure, pilgrim amenities and heritage-linked tourism services.
The ministry completed one project at the Jogulamba Devi Temple in Alampur. It sanctioned the project in 2020–21 at a cost of ₹38.90 crore. Authorities released ₹33.07 crore and completed the work physically.
PRASHAD scheme Telangana projects and progress
In 2022–23, the ministry sanctioned ₹62 crore for pilgrimage and heritage tourism development at the Rudreshwara, or Ramappa, Temple in Mulugu district. It has released ₹32.73 crore so far. Work at the site continues.
During the same year, the ministry approved another project at Bhadrachalam in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The sanctioned cost stood at ₹41.38 crore. Authorities have released ₹8.43 crore, and the project remains ongoing.
In 2024–25, the ministry sanctioned ₹4.22 crore for basic amenities at the goddess Renuka Yellamma Devasthanam. The ministry has not released funds yet. The project status remains ongoing.
The Ministry of Tourism said the PRASHAD scheme focuses on improving pilgrim facilities while protecting heritage value. Together, the four Telangana projects account for a total sanctioned outlay of ₹146.50 crore.
