Rain alert issued for Telangana for next three days

Hyderabad: The Meteorological Department issued a Rain alert Telangana for the next three days, forecasting light to moderate rainfall in several districts.

Officials said a trough formed from South Interior Karnataka to Marathwada at 0.9 km above mean sea level. In addition, another trough extended from Gangetic West Bengal to the Andhra coast over Odisha at the same altitude. These interacting systems increased atmospheric instability over the region.

Although the trough linked to the earlier low-pressure area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal weakened, weather systems continued to influence the state. Therefore, intermittent rainfall activity is likely in multiple districts during the alert period.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur at isolated places on Monday and Tuesday. Similar conditions are expected on Wednesday as well. As a result, the Rain alert Telangana will remain in force throughout this period.

Meteorological officials said the interacting troughs were driving the present instability. Consequently, isolated thunderstorms and lightning could develop in different parts of the state.

They advised residents to stay indoors during lightning activity and avoid open fields. Moreover, authorities urged farmers to monitor local forecasts and secure crops where necessary.

The department stated that it would continue close monitoring of weather developments. If conditions intensify, officials will issue further updates and advisories.
