Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy issued a Revanth Reddy directive asking ministers, whips and MLAs to firmly counter what he called false claims by the BRS in the Assembly.
After the House adjourned on Monday, the Chief Minister met ministers and legislators in his chamber. During the meeting, he outlined a clear debate strategy for the ongoing session.
He asked members to rely on verified data and official records. He also cautioned them against raising irrelevant points during discussions. Ministers were told to stay focused on agenda items and public issues.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka attended the meeting. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Konda Surekha, Adluri Laxman, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Azharuddin and Seethakka were present. Advisors Sudarshan Reddy and Vem Narender Reddy, whips Adi Srinivas and Beerla Ilaiah, and several MLAs also participated.
The Chief Minister reviewed issues listed for discussion. He directed MLAs to actively join debates linked to their districts. He stressed that every question from the opposition must receive a clear reply.
Key topics expected in the House include Krishna and Godavari water use, amendments to the employment guarantee scheme and the HILTS policy, sources said.
Revanth Reddy directive targets Palamuru-Rangareddy claims
During the meeting, the Revanth Reddy directive focused on countering BRS claims about the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project. The Chief Minister asked ministers to prove with records that the claim of 80% work completion was false.
According to sources, the discussion noted that the BRS government first approved the project at ₹35,000 crore. It later raised the estimate to ₹55,000 crore. The meeting also flagged low land compensation during that period.
The Chief Minister reportedly said the cost could cross ₹70,000 crore if farmers received fair compensation. He asked ministers to question where 80% of the work was executed.
He also asked them to explain how delays in Krishna river projects hurt Telangana’s water interests. On the employment guarantee scheme, he told members to highlight benefits to the poor. He also asked them to question the Centre’s move to shift 40% funding to states.
Sources said the meeting decided to question the BRS over its silence and alleged support to the BJP on these amendments.
