Revanth Reddy calls for dialogue to resolve Telangana–Army pending issues

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said sustained dialogue between the Telangana government and the Indian Army was essential to resolve pending land and administrative issues, and urged the Army to appoint dedicated officers to address them.

He made the remarks while chairing a Civil Military Liaison Conference at the Hyderabad Command Control Centre. The meeting focused on expediting solutions to long-pending issues between the state government and the Army, including land-related matters.

Revanth Reddy said regular coordination would help clear bottlenecks and improve cooperation. Therefore, he requested the Army to designate specific officials to engage with the state government on unresolved matters.

Senior officials attended the meeting, including Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Telangana–Andhra Sub Area General Officer Commanding Major General Ajay Mishra, and Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy, along with senior officers from the state government and the Army.

Telangana Army issues raised, including Sainik school and command centre

During the meeting, the Chief Minister placed several requests before senior Army officials. He asked them to examine shifting the Southern Command Centre headquarters to Hyderabad.

Revanth Reddy also recalled that several states had been sanctioned two to four Sainik schools each. However, he said Telangana had not received a single Sainik school in the last 10 years. He urged the Centre and the Army to sanction a Sainik school for the state at the earliest.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the Telangana government would always extend full cooperation to the Centre and the Indian Army on all matters related to national security. In this context, he cited the state’s decision to allocate 3,000 acres of land at Damagundam in Vikarabad district for the low-frequency VLF Navy radar station.
