New Delhi: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) reported its strongest performance in FY 2025-26, recording highest-ever sales and production figures.
Sales reached 20.14 million tonnes, marking an 11.5% increase over 18.07 million tonnes in the previous year. Therefore, the growth reflected strong demand across product categories.
On the production side, the company achieved a record crude steel output of 19.43 million tonnes. In addition, saleable steel production stood at 19.176 million tonnes, setting new benchmarks.
Officials said improved efficiency supported operations during the year. Moreover, these gains strengthened the company’s competitiveness in the steel sector.
The company also supplied 1.25 million tonnes to Indian Railways, marking its highest-ever contribution. As a result, it played a key role in supporting rail infrastructure expansion.
SAIL performance driven by export growth and rail supply
Exports rose sharply to 2.9 lakh tonnes, registering a 162% increase. This growth included expansion into new international markets such as Bhutan.
The company also recorded its highest long rail production at the Universal Rail Mill. Therefore, it reinforced its position in supplying critical infrastructure materials.
Officials said the broad-based growth highlighted SAIL performance across segments. In addition, it strengthened the company’s brand presence in domestic and global markets.
The results reflected consistent value delivery and operational strength. Meanwhile, they showed a continued focus on efficiency and sustainable steel production.
