SC reservations verdict hailed as historic by BJP Telangana

Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao hailed the SC reservations verdict of the Supreme Court as a historic decision that upheld constitutional principles.

In a statement on Tuesday, he said the ruling reaffirmed an earlier Andhra Pradesh High Court judgment. He described it as a victory for the spirit of the Constitution.

Rao said the decision ensured reservation benefits reached genuine beneficiaries. He added that it would curb misuse of Scheduled Caste status after religious conversion.

He alleged that such practices had denied rightful benefits to eligible Dalit communities. Therefore, he urged the state government to strictly implement the ruling on the ground.

He said some individuals had converted to other religions while retaining SC certificates. As a result, they continued to claim benefits meant for others.

“This has caused grave injustice to genuine Dalit children. The Apex court’s verdict will put an end to such irregularities and ensure justice for the truly eligible SC community,” he said.

Political reactions to SC reservations verdict

Rao said the verdict would correct long-standing irregularities in the system. He added that it would restore fairness in the distribution of benefits.

He also criticised rival political parties over the issue. He said the ruling exposed attempts to encourage conversions for political gain.

Calling it a “strong slap in the face,” he said the judgment challenged those who created confusion around reservations for vote-bank politics.

Moreover, he said the verdict reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to protecting marginalised sections. He added that the party would continue to support policies ensuring justice for genuine beneficiaries.
