SCR seeks Telangana support for railway infrastructure projects

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) on Thursday sought support from the Telangana government to speed up key development works across the state.

During a high-level coordination meeting held at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad, SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava discussed pending issues with Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and senior officials. The meeting focused on improving coordination to accelerate execution.

Importantly, officials described the meeting as a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between the Railways and the State government. As a result, both sides agreed on the need for faster decision-making.

Railway infrastructure projects need stronger State coordination

Railway officials presented details of ongoing railway infrastructure projects across Telangana. These include Road Under Bridges, Road Over Bridges, new rail lines, station upgrades, and approach road development.

In particular, they highlighted the need for timely support in land acquisition and approvals. Additionally, SCR sought assistance in securing No Objection Certificates and managing traffic diversions during construction.

Officials also requested help in shifting utilities such as electric lines and pipelines. Consequently, they noted that quicker clearances would significantly reduce project delays.

Focus on new corridors and future expansion

Apart from ongoing works, discussions also covered upcoming plans. For instance, officials spoke about proposed railway lines and the need for cost-sharing mechanisms with the State.

A preliminary discussion was also held on a high-speed rail corridor connecting Hyderabad with Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune. Moreover, the meeting reviewed plans for the Regional Ring Rail project.

Addressing the gathering, Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said timely completion of railway infrastructure projects would benefit passengers and boost economic growth. He added that stronger cooperation from the State would help speed up implementation.

Meanwhile, K. Ramakrishna Rao emphasised the importance of regular coordination meetings. He further noted that integrated planning across departments would help resolve issues more efficiently.

Overall, both Railway and State officials reiterated their commitment to work together. They said such coordination would ensure timely completion of railway infrastructure projects and improve connectivity across Telangana.
