Helpline for Telugus stranded in Middle East
To assist people from the State and their families, the Telangana Government established a 24×7 Control Room at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi. The facility will provide immediate support. In addition, it will gather information about stranded individuals and coordinate relief measures.
Officials said the Control Room will serve as the primary contact point. Therefore, families seeking updates can approach it directly.
The following officials are operating the round-the-clock helpline:
-
Smt. Vandana Barua – +91 98719 99044
-
Sri C.H. Chakravarthi – +91 99583 22143
-
Sri Javed Husain – +91 99100 14749

Shabbir Ali said the government stood firmly with its citizens. Furthermore, it would take every possible step to extend assistance whenever required. He urged Telangana residents in the affected region to remain in touch with Indian embassies. Meanwhile, they should also use the helpline if necessary.
Recalling his tenure as Minister for NRI Affairs in undivided Andhra Pradesh, he said migrant welfare had always been a priority. For instance, in October 2007, the government facilitated the return of 1,241 immigrants detained in the UAE. It arranged free air tickets to bring them home.
Similarly, in September 2008, nearly 45,000 people were brought back from Gulf countries through coordinated efforts. In addition, he led a delegation to study the conditions of Telugu workers. During that period, around 10,000 workers secured necessary documents at the Abu Dhabi Immigration Centre with official support.
He said the experience gained during those initiatives proved valuable. As a result, authorities can now respond faster during emergencies. Finally, he assured that the State Government would continue to monitor the evolving situation and safeguard Telangana citizens abroad.
