Shabbir Ali stresses 100% Waqf registration on Umeed portal

Hyderabad: Advisor to the Telangana Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Tuesday urged officials to achieve complete Waqf registration Umeed portal coverage and remove hurdles delaying the process.

During a review meeting, Shabbir Ali said the Telangana State Waqf Board had uploaded nearly 74% of Waqf properties. Many Ashoorkhanas, mosques, and other institutions in villages still remained unregistered. Fear, legal confusion, and delays continued to affect Waqf registration Umeed portal progress.

The meeting was attended by Minority Welfare Minister Md Azharuddin, Haj Committee Chairman Syed Gulam Afzal Biabani, TMREIS President Faheem Qureshi, and senior officials. According to Shabbir Ali, caretakers feared that registration could lead to government control. He stressed that officials must actively counter this misinformation.

Earlier, a pending Supreme Court case had stalled the process. Concerns raised by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and community leaders had further slowed registrations. As a result, officials waited for legal clarity before moving ahead.

Tribunal order revives Waqf registration Umeed portal drive

Referring to recent developments, Shabbir Ali said the Waqf Tribunal granted a three-month extension while hearing an original application. The Tribunal also directed the Government of India to reopen the portal. This order allowed officials to restart Waqf registration Umeed portal work and verify documents.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s remarks encouraging states to complete registrations through local courts were also noted. Earlier attempts by officials to seek judicial clarity had ended with advice to wait until the portal reopened. After discussions, authorities agreed to resume the process.

Shabbir Ali said officials had already uploaded gazette-notified institutions. The extension would now help register pending properties. He asked the government and the Waqf Board to launch district-wise campaigns. Physical visits to mosques and dargahs, he said, would help explain that registration protects Waqf assets.

To speed up work, Shabbir Ali suggested hiring young IT professionals through reputed agencies. Dependence on limited volunteers had slowed data entry. With adequate funds available, outsourcing would ensure timely completion.

He praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minority Welfare Minister Md Azharuddin for backing efforts to safeguard Waqf properties through Waqf registration Umeed portal.
