Mumbai: A two-day State Haj Inspectors training programme commenced at Haj House in Mumbai on Friday to prepare officials for operational responsibilities during the upcoming Haj season in Saudi Arabia.
The programme, scheduled for January 24 and 25, aims to familiarise State Haj Inspectors with operational protocols, coordination mechanisms and welfare measures. Through this effort, authorities seek to ensure smooth facilitation and effective on-ground support for Indian Haj pilgrims.
Addressing the inaugural session, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar stressed the importance of the role played by inspectors. He urged them to remain patient and vigilant at all times. Moreover, he advised them to adopt a compassionate and service-oriented approach while assisting pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Kumar said the conduct and responsiveness of inspectors directly influenced the safety, dignity and overall experience of Haj pilgrims. Therefore, he called for a strong sense of responsibility and commitment throughout the pilgrimage.

State Haj Inspectors training covers health, safety and coordination
During the session, Haj Committee of India CEO Sahnavas C highlighted coordination requirements with multiple stakeholders during Haj operations. In addition, Director (Haj), Ministry of Minority Affairs, Nazeem Ahmed briefed participants on administrative procedures, standard operating protocols and the need for timely grievance redressal.
Health and safety preparedness formed another key component of the State Haj Inspectors training. Deputy Director General, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. L. Swasthicharan sensitised participants on preventive health measures and coordination with medical teams to address emergencies involving pilgrims.
The programme also includes sessions on pilgrim facilitation, accommodation and transport management, emergency response systems and coordination with Saudi authorities. Furthermore, officials are being trained in the use of digital platforms for monitoring and grievance handling.
The training programme will conclude on Saturday with interactive discussions aimed at strengthening the readiness of State Haj Inspectors for the forthcoming Haj season.
