Bengaluru: Indian T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav passed his fitness test at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru ahead of Asia Cup team selection after completing rehabilitation from sports hernia surgery.
The batsman underwent surgery for a right lower abdominal sports hernia in Munich, Germany, in June before beginning his recovery process. Suryakumar Yadav’s fitness assessment confirmed his availability for captaining the Indian team during the upcoming Asia Cup tournament.
A BCCI source confirmed that he passed the fitness test and will remain available for captaining the Indian team during the Asia Cup. The official stated that Suryakumar had been at the Centre of Excellence until a few days ago, where he completed his rehabilitation and has now been declared completely fit.

Suryakumar shared information about his successful surgery on Instagram in June, writing that he had undergone sports hernia surgery in the right lower abdomen. He expressed gratitude that the surgery was successful and stated he was on the recovery path, adding that he could not wait to return to the field.
The batsman had travelled to the United Kingdom after participating in the IPL and Mumbai T20 League, where he consulted with sports hernia specialists. The consultation led to his decision to undergo the surgical procedure in Munich to address the abdominal condition.
