Hyderabad: BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju demanded a CBI probe into the Telangana bunker bed scam, alleging irregularities in the ₹160 crore procurement for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) schools. He also sought a Central Vigilance Commission inquiry into the tender process.
In a statement on Saturday, Dasoju accused senior officials of inflating prices and manipulating tender norms. He claimed the price per bunker bed was fixed at ₹35,830. Earlier, the beds reportedly cost between ₹12,000 and ₹15,000. According to him, this revision imposed an excess burden of over ₹100 crore on the state exchequer.
He further alleged that the earlier beds used 95 kg heavy-duty steel. However, the new tender reduced the steel weight to 75 kg despite the sharp price increase. He termed the move “inverse logic corruption” and questioned the justification for the pricing structure.
KGBV procurement under Telangana bunker bed scam scrutiny
Dasoju alleged that turnover norms were framed to sideline Telangana MSMEs and favour select large firms. He also accused the department of denying RTI disclosures related to note files and tender evaluations.
The BRS leader demanded immediate cancellation of the tender. Moreover, he called for public release of all procurement documents linked to the Telangana bunker bed scam. Since KGBV schools receive 60:40 funding support from the Centre, he urged Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar to intervene.
He said accountability must be fixed and vowed to pursue the matter until action was taken. Meanwhile, the Education Department has not issued any response to the allegations.
