Hyderabad: Telangana Fire Services won three medals at the 1st All India Fire Service Sports Meet–2026, following which Director General of Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence Vikram Singh Mann, IPS, congratulated the team for its performance.
A 19-member team represented Telangana Fire Services at the national-level sports meet. The competitions were held from January 26 to January 31 at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Fire services teams from across the country participated in multiple sporting disciplines.
Among the medal winners, fire fighter P. Ashok of Warangal Fire Station secured two bronze medals. He won bronze in the 5000-metre race and the 1500-metre race in the above-40 age category. His performance contributed significantly to the overall medal tally of the state team.
Telangana Fire Services medals earned across athletics events
Another medal was won by fire fighter (Technical) G. Kumaraswamy of Warangal Fire Station. He secured a silver medal in the 5000-metre race in the above-30 age category. Officials said the achievements reflected the discipline and fitness standards maintained by the department.
Apart from the medal events, Telangana Fire Services personnel also competed in badminton, athletics, shot put, stair run and long jump across various categories. The Director General praised the dedication and hard work of the participants and felicitated them for their success.
Vikram Singh Mann said the Telangana Fire Services medals would inspire staff and bring recognition to both the department and the state. He encouraged fire services personnel to make sports part of their daily routine, noting that regular physical activity improved both physical and mental health.
