This meeting followed Friday’s government order implementing 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes in local bodies. The quota decision unlocked the pathway for elections, which had been pending.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had earlier urged officials to prepare thoroughly for the polls. The election commission’s Saturday session reflected this urgency, focusing on both administrative planning and inter-departmental coordination.

The Hyderabad meeting highlighted that Telangana local body elections are approaching quickly, with officials moving into the final stages of preparation.
