Hyderabad: Telangana will unveil its Next Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026–2030 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy presenting the roadmap to global industry leaders.
Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu will join the Chief Minister during the presentation. The state government said the policy aimed to position Telangana as a global leader in healthcare and pharmaceutical innovation.
Officials said the Telangana life sciences policy marked a shift from scale-driven growth to an innovation-led model. The new framework focuses on value creation, global integration, and research-driven expansion. At the same time, it seeks to strengthen the state’s established manufacturing base.
The policy also aims to accelerate Telangana’s transition into a frontier hub for research and development. Officials said the approach would align the state’s ecosystem with global life sciences trends.
Telangana life sciences policy links Green Pharma City vision
Alongside the policy, the government will launch a strategic roadmap for Green Pharma City near Hyderabad’s international airport. The project will form part of the larger Bharat Future City initiative.
Officials said Green Pharma City would offer seamless connectivity to major industrial corridors. These include access to the state’s upcoming AI Hub. The cluster will support integrated industrial growth.
The facility will adopt zero liquid discharge systems, centralised waste management, and energy-efficient technologies. It will follow a “Work, Live, Learn, and Play” model to promote sustainable manufacturing and innovation.
Telangana currently accounts for 40% of India’s pharmaceutical production. It hosts over 250 USFDA-approved facilities and produces one-third of the world’s vaccines. Hyderabad alone houses more than 2,000 life sciences companies, while the sector stands valued at $80 billion.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has outlined a vision to build a $250 billion life sciences economy by 2030. Officials said the Telangana Global Life Sciences platform would act as a flagship initiative. The platform will connect global investors, researchers, and policymakers to accelerate collaboration and innovation.
