Telangana districts receive Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI funds for 2024–25

Hyderabad: All 33 Telangana districts received funds under Samagra Shiksha and the PM SHRI scheme for the 2024–25 academic year. The Union Government shared the district-wise allocation details in the Lok Sabha. Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary provided the data in response to a question by BJP MP Madhavaneni Raghunandan Rao.

According to figures submitted by the state, Samagra Shiksha covered the full range of school education, from pre-school to senior secondary. Nalgonda received the highest allocation at ₹81.14 crore, followed by Sangareddy at ₹82.62 crore and Nizamabad at ₹73.45 crore. The Centre released funds based on each district’s utilisation plans, including infrastructure, teacher support and school-level operations.

Under the PM SHRI scheme, aimed at building NEP-compliant model schools, Nalgonda received ₹19.25 crore, Sangareddy ₹23.72 crore, and Ranga Reddy ₹20.33 crore. Every district in Telangana received allocations under this scheme.

Central and state-backed school upgrades continue across Telangana

Samagra Shiksha, launched in 2018–19, aims to provide inclusive and equitable education. It supports infrastructure upgrades, teaching resources and key interventions in government schools. In contrast, PM SHRI schools serve as model institutions implementing NEP 2020 standards and mentoring others nearby.

The Centre also released funds to Central Universities in Telangana. The University of Hyderabad received ₹378.18 crore, Maulana Azad National Urdu University ₹232.39 crore, and EFLU ₹127 crore. Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University received ₹3.72 crore.

Additionally, Telangana has taken steps to improve state-run schools. It extended free electricity to all government schools. The Amma Adarsha Pathashala Committees, launched in June 2024, have completed 58,632 maintenance works worth ₹642.10 crore. These panels also manage sanitation, classroom upkeep and school facilities.
