Hyderabad: Tollywood plunged into mourning on Friday after the death of Allu Kanakaratnam (94), mother of senior producer Allu Aravind and grandmother of actor Allu Arjun. She died in Hyderabad due to age-related ailments.
Family members said Kanakaratnam breathed her last in the early hours of the day. Allu Arjun, who was in Mumbai, rushed back to Hyderabad to join his family for the last rites.
Prominent film personalities to attend final rites
The funeral took place in Kokapet on Friday afternoon. Relatives, friends and film fraternity members gathered to pay their respects. Several leading figures from the Telugu film industry were expected to attend and offer condolences to the bereaved family.
Kanakaratnam earned deep respect in Telugu film circles. Her death marked the end of an era for the Allu family, which has made significant contributions to cinema for decades.
