TUWJ calls Chalo Collectorate protest against journalist accreditation GO

Hyderabad: The Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ H 143) called for a Chalo Collectorate protest in Hyderabad against the journalist accreditation GO and demanded accreditations for all eligible journalists.

According to the union, the protest will take place at the Hyderabad district collectorate on December 27, 2025, at 10 am. During the programme, union leaders will submit a memorandum to the district collector. Through this, they will oppose the newly issued Government Order No. 252 on accreditation norms.

Meanwhile, TUWJ appealed to journalists across the district to join the protest in large numbers. The union said the programme aimed to show unity among journalists. It also sought to highlight concerns over the accreditation policy, which it said denied benefits to many working journalists.

Journalist accreditation GO draws strong opposition from TUWJ

Ahead of the protest, TUWJ H 143 announced a media meeting at the Somajiguda Press Club on Friday at 1.30 pm. At the meeting, leaders will explain the problems linked to the journalist accreditation GO. They will also outline how the order affects working journalists.

During the interaction, union state president Allam Narayana and general secretary Askani Maruthi Sagar will address the media. Therefore, the union requested journalists from print, electronic and digital platforms to attend for news coverage.

Finally, Navin Kumar Yara, Hyderabad in-charge of TUWJ H 143, issued the call for participation. He urged journalists to take part and make the protest successful.
