New Delhi: Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna took part in the Congress party’s anti-SIR protest in Delhi. The protest aimed to protect every eligible citizen’s right to vote and uphold democratic values. Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy and MLA Gaddam Vinod joined him. The MP reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding voting rights.

Vamsi Krishna also met Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and senior Kerala Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala. During these interactions, the leaders discussed the importance of protecting democracy and upholding constitutional values. They also stressed the need for transparency in the electoral process.

Anti-SIR protest follows Rahul Gandhi’s call

The Congress organised the anti-SIR protest following a call by senior leader Rahul Gandhi. The leaders emphasised that every eligible citizen must retain the right to vote. No eligible voter should face injustice during the revision of electoral rolls, they said.

The right to vote is fundamental to the functioning of a democracy, the leaders said. Protecting every eligible citizen’s vote, they added, is essential to strengthening democratic institutions. It also preserves the people’s faith in the electoral system.

Leaders seek transparent and fair electoral process

The leaders stressed that the electoral process must be transparent, fair and impartial. This, they said, would strengthen public confidence in democratic institutions.

They reaffirmed that the Congress will continue its fight to protect the voting rights of every eligible citizen. The party will also uphold the spirit and values of the Indian Constitution, they said.
