Vikarabad family secures three Panchayat Posts in Manthangoud village

Hyderabad: Vikarabad district is witnessing a rare situation in Manthangoud village of Basheerabad mandal. One family is now in a position to secure three Panchayat posts. The village has eight wards and 494 voters.

One family qualifies for all reserved ST seats

About sixteen years ago, Bhimappa and his wife Venkatamma moved to the Manthangoud thanda. Their two sons now live in Hyderabad. The family has six registered votes in the village.

The sarpanch seat falls under the ST-General category. The 4th ward is also reserved for ST-General, while the 6th ward is reserved for ST-Women. Since no other ST families live in the village, only Bhimappa’s family meets the eligibility norms.

As a result, the family is likely to take charge of all three Panchayat posts. This has created a rare situation where a single household may lead the entire village administration.
