Hyderabad: Vivek Venkatswamy Assembly remarks triggered a political debate as the minister criticised the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) over leadership decisions and inquiry demands.
Industries Minister Vivek Venkatswamy referred to comments made by Koushik Reddy about senior leader Kadiyam Srihari. He said leaders like K. T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao should have intervened and exercised restraint.
Vivek Venkatswamy Assembly remarks on Dalit representation
Venkatswamy alleged that the BRS lacked genuine commitment to Dalit welfare. He pointed out that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had promised to appoint a Dalit as Chief Minister but did not fulfil the assurance.
Moreover, he criticised the party’s leadership structure, stating that key posts were given within the family. According to him, the public is aware of such decisions.
He also claimed that during the BRS tenure, leaders who defected from the Congress were given ministerial positions. He accused Rajeshwar Reddy of ignoring these facts.
Probe debate and government response
Addressing demands for a House Committee, Venkatswamy said such panels are meant for policy matters. However, he stressed that investigative issues should be handled by agencies like the CBCID.
He noted that while T. Harish Rao demanded a House Committee, the Chief Minister had already announced a CBCID inquiry.
In addition, he pointed out that K. Kavitha had earlier raised a similar demand, questioning the silence of BRS leaders now.
Action on projects and sand mafia claims
The minister said the government had issued notices to Raghava Constructions and assured that appropriate action would follow.
Furthermore, he claimed that the Congress government had curbed the sand mafia that expanded during the BRS regime. He argued that calls for a House Committee stem from concerns that a CBCID probe could expose the truth.
Overall, the Vivek Venkatswamy Assembly remarks have intensified political exchanges between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS.
