Women and Child Development Ministry hosts Anganwadi workers at Republic Day ceremony

New Delhi: The Ministry of Women and Child Development hosted over 200 Anganwadi workers and other frontline field functionaries as special guests at the Republic Day ceremony held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi on January 26.

The ministry invited the workers in recognition of their sustained contribution to the welfare and empowerment of women and children at the grassroots level. Officials said the initiative aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to strengthen last-mile service delivery and promote people-centric development.

The special guests, drawn from different states, stayed in New Delhi from January 24 to 27. During their visit, they toured national landmarks, including the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya and the Akshardham Temple, to experience India’s cultural heritage and development journey.

On January 25, the ministry organised an interactive session with Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi, Minister of State Savitri Thakur and Secretary Anil Malik. During the interaction, the ministers appreciated the dedication of Anganwadi workers and reiterated the government’s focus on strengthening grassroots institutions.

Addressing the gathering, Annpurna Devi said Anganwadi workers and frontline functionaries had emerged as key partners in nation-building under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said their work at the grassroots had helped translate government programmes into tangible benefits for women and children.

Savitri Thakur said the service of frontline workers reflected the spirit of Viksit Bharat. She added that the ministry remained committed to inclusive growth, women-led development and continued support for last-mile service providers.

The ministry said the participation of Anganwadi workers in the Republic Day ceremony reflected the government’s commitment to recognising women’s leadership and the role of frontline workers in nation-building as India moves towards the goal of Viksit Bharat.
