Hyderabad: Umesh Chandra remained an enduring inspiration for the police force, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said. He made the remarks while paying tribute to the late IPS officer on his 27th death anniversary.
Sajjanar paid floral tributes at Umesh Chandra’s statue at SR Nagar Crossroads. He recalled the officer’s distinguished service and sacrifice for the police force and society.
DGP (Operations, Greyhounds and OCTOPUS) Dr. Anil Kumar also attended the event. Members of Umesh Chandra’s family joined the tribute programme.
Sajjanar described Umesh Chandra as a police leader known for integrity, honesty and courage. He said the officer had brought pride to the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and the nation.
The Hyderabad CP said he considered it a privilege to have worked with Umesh Chandra, although only for a brief period. He also recalled his association with the officer’s parents, brother and other family members.
Sajjanar said he had served in Warangal, Kadapa and Pulivendula. Umesh Chandra had also served in these areas during his police career.
He noted that people in those regions continued to remember Umesh Chandra for his honesty and efficient administration. His service, Sajjanar said, had left a lasting impression on local communities.
Umesh Chandra’s legacy continues through police service
Sajjanar expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a leader who played an important role in maintaining law and order in the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh.
He said the peaceful social environment and stable law-and-order situation seen today reflected the sacrifices of many police martyrs. Umesh Chandra, he added, remained among those whose dedication continued to guide the force.
The Hyderabad CP called on police personnel and the public to follow Umesh Chandra’s example of dedication to duty. He urged them to uphold the ideals that shaped the officer’s career.
Sajjanar also paid his respects to Umesh Chandra and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. The tribute programme remembered the officer’s service, courage and ultimate sacrifice.
